Whether you have a desktop or a laptop computer, you can connect it to a Verizon Wi-Fi router for wireless Internet service. The main advantage of using a Wi-Fi router is that it eliminates the need for cables and cords and gives you the flexibility to set up your computer anywhere within range of the wireless signal. To connect your computer to a Wi-Fi router, your computer must have wireless capabilities. Purchase a wireless PC card for your computer if there isn't one already installed.
Check if your computer is configured for wireless access. If you have a newer laptop, it probably already has a wireless card installed. If not, you'll need to purchase a Wi-Fi PC card or USB antennae and install it in your computer.
Set up your computer within range of the wireless signal. You should be able to establish a connection anywhere in the house or office. The closer you are to the router, the better the signal will be.
Go to the "Network and Sharing Center" on your PC to find the wireless connection you want to join. If there are multiple wireless signals in the area, you'll need to know the name of the Verizon Wi-Fi connection. Double-click on the connection name to access the network.
Enter the password, if applicable, to access the Wi-Fi network. Many individuals and businesses choose to secure their wireless signals to prevent unauthorized access to the network. If you don't know the password, you'll need to contact the computer administrator for more information.
Open your Internet browser and peruse the Internet. Now that you've established a connection with the Verizon router, you'll be instantly connected to the network every time you're within range of the signal.
