The T-Mobile G1 was a landmark phone because it was the first device to reach retail with Google's open-source Android operating system. With a large, bright touchscreen, watching videos on the G1 is a pleasure.
How to Watch Videos on a G1 Phone
Step 1
Open the YouTube application. The G1 phone comes with the Google Experience, which includes a built-in Youtube application.
Step 2
Search for the Youtube video you want to watch. The home screen of the YouTube application includes categories and featured videos. There is a search bar at the top. Search can also be accessed by pressing the menu button and tapping Search.
Step 3
Turn the G1 into landscape mode and adjust the volume as the video buffers. If you are not in a T-Mobile 3G coverage area or using Wi-Fi, the G1 may take a minute or two to buffer the video. Remember that the phone will play the audio through the speakerphone unless you have headphones plugged into the ExtUSB jack at the bottom of the phone.
Tip
- While the G1 has no built-in video player for files on your SD card, there are some players available in the App Market, including some free applications.
