Any video currently on a computer can be transferred to and watched on an iPod nano. The only catch is converting the video to a format that the digital video player can recognize. You can convert them with iTunes or a variety of free conversion programs.

iTunes Conversion

Step 1

Open iTunes and drag the video file into the main window to import it.

Step 2

Click the video to select it. Then click the "Create iPod or iPhone Version" in the "Advanced" menu. Repeat for each video you need to convert.

Step 3

Plug the iPod nano into the computer.

Step 4

Drag the video file to the iPod nano icon on the left-bar, then click "Sync."

Using a Third-party Program

Step 1

Download and install a video conversion program. For example, Videora is both Mac and PC-compatible and specializes in converting video for the iPod nano.

Step 2

Open up the program and follow the instructions for importing a video. In Videora, this means selecting which iPod model you wish to transfer to, then browsing for the converted video.

Step 3

Convert the video to a supported format--in the nano this is either an .mp4, .mov or .m4v. Videora automatically converts to a supported format.

Step 4

Open iTunes and drag the recently converted files to the iTunes window. They should be in the same folder as the original video file.

Step 5

Plug in the iPod nano. In the video section of iTunes, drag the converted video file to the iPod nano icon in the right-side toolbar. Click "Sync" to finish transferring the files.
