How to Use YouTube on an iTouch

by Gabriele Sturmer

The iPod touch includes a YouTube app that lets you view streaming videos over a Wi-Fi connection. The app lets you search for videos based on keywords or select from a featured and most viewed video list. If you have a YouTube account, you can log in through the app and view your subscriptions, access your viewing history and comment on videos.

Step 1

Tap the "YouTube" icon on the iPod touch to open the app.

Step 2

Tap "More" in the menu that runs along the bottom of the app and then tap "Sign In" in the upper-left corner of the app if you want to log in to your account. Type your YouTube login information and then tap "Sign In."

Step 3

Tap "Search" in the YouTube menu to search for a video. Type any search terms in the input box and tap "Search." If you prefer to view a list of featured or most viewed videos, tap "Featured" or "Most Viewed" in the menu. Tap a video on the results list to begin playback.

Step 4

Tap the playback controls to pause, rewind or fast forward a video. Tap the "Scale" icon in the top right corner to fill the screen with the video, tap the "Book" icon to add a video to your bookmarks or tap the "Email" icon to share the video with a friend.

Step 5

Tap "Done" if you want to stop playback and view the video's information and any comments other users have posted about the video. Tap "Rate, Comment or Flag" and select the action you want to perform on the menu that appears. If you want to subscribe to a user's videos, tap "More Videos" on the video information screen and then tap "Subscribe To (Account Name)" to subscribe to that user.

Step 6

Tap "More" and then tap "History" to view your viewing history. Alternatively, select "My Videos" to see a list of your own videos. Select "Playlists" to view your playlists or "Subscriptions" to manage your subscriptions.
