Wordpress is a free blogging site where you can set up your own blog and upload content of your choosing. However, if your computer's firewall setting is set to its highest security level, you may not gain access to Wordpress. To correct this issue, you need to adjust the firewall settings on your computer. Doing so gives your computer the ability to load the content on Wordpress.

Step 1

Open the Windows "Start" menu, then click "Control Panel." The Control Panel window will display.

Step 2

Click the "Firewall" icon to open the Firewall window in Windows XP. In Windows Vista and 7, click the "Security" icon, followed by "Windows Firewall."

Step 3

Click the "On" option with exceptions (click "Change Settings" in Windows Vista or 7 before proceeding). This allows you to adjust what programs and sites can bypass the firewall.

Step 4

Click the "Exceptions" tab, then click "Add a Program." A window with all the programs and software information loads onto the screen.

Step 5

Select any Wordpress applications you have downloaded as exceptions, then click "OK." Click "OK" again and this clears your Wordpress program as an exception to the firewall, allowing you to access it whenever you choose.
