How to Use Toshiba Recovery Discs

A vicious malware infection, critical system error or hard drive crash can turn your perfectly working computer into an unstable mess. To help you resolve these issues in your Toshiba computer, the manufacturer includes recovery utilities that will will get your machine back into working order. You can use a set of recovery discs to complete the restore process, but backup your files first since the restore will erase all the data saved to your computer's hard drive.

Step 1

Insert the first recovery disc into your computer's disc drive and restart the computer. The Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility screen will appear once the computer reboots.

Step 2

Press the "1" key on your keyboard to select the "Restore Original Factory Image" option. This will return your Toshiba to the original operating condition of your computer.

Step 3

Click "Yes" to confirm the restoration. This may take a couple of minutes to several hours depending on your processor's speed and the amount of data on your hard drive. The recovery utility will notify you once the restoration is complete.

Step 4

Press any key on the keyboard to restart your computer.
