Like most smart phones, the BlackBerry can be customized to the user's liking in various ways. Features ranging from the application list to the phone background can be customized. This also applies to the BlackBerry's ringtone. If you don't care for the stock ringtones included with the phone, you can use the T-Mobile BlackBerry's menu to set a new ringtone on your smart phone.

Step 1

Plug the BlackBerry into your computer and copy the desired ringtone onto the phone's internal memory. Ringtones can be custom-made from audio files or downloaded from various third-party sources.

Step 2

Select "Profiles" on the BlackBerry's main screen. Choose the profile you wish to edit.

Step 3

Click "Edit" to display the events listing for the profile. Events can include, for example, when the phone is holstered and when it isn't. A different ringtone can be used when the phone is in each state.

Step 4

Use the scroll wheel to select the event's ringtone that you wish to edit. Select this event.

Step 5

Select "Tunes" and then select "Change Option" to open the ringtone selection screen. Scroll down until you find the desired ringtone. Press the click wheel to select it.

Step 6

Scroll down to "Save" and press the click wheel to save the new profile.

Tip

  • Third-party apps such as Ringtone Junkie and MP3 Ringtone Creator allow users to create their own custom ringtones.
