How to Use a Samsung Omnia MicroSD Card

by Travis Meyer

Featuring support for up to eight gigabytes of added storage with a microSD card slot, the Samsung Omnia provides breathing room for users who need more memory. In conjunction with the Windows Mobile operating system, the microSD card acts as a kind of jump drive, allowing you more leeway in how you transfer data to and from your device. Once you have the card installed, the process of working with the added space is simple and intuitive.

Step 1

Unlatch the battery cover on the back of the handset and take out the battery.

Step 2

Insert your Omnia-compatible microSD card into the memory card slot with the label side of the memory card facing up. The memory card slot is in the center and against the battery bay.

Step 3

Return the battery to the battery bay and latch the battery cover into place.

Step 4

Plug your device into your computer using its USB connector cable. Wait a moment while the device docks to your computer.

Step 5

Click "My Computer" to open your computer's primary directory.

Step 6

Double-click the new drive that appears in the window. Usually, the drive will be labeled with its brand name. This shows your microSD card's data directory.

Step 7

Load files to the microSD card for use on your phone by clicking and dragging contents to the microSD card's data directory window.

Step 8

Access the contents of your microSD card on your Samsung Omnia by selecting the "Start" menu on your start screen, choosing "Programs," selecting "File Explorer" and opening your microSD card directory folder from the menu.
