The BlackBerry Curve smartphone has the capability to play iTunes music and be used as a portable MP3 player. Now you can upload your iTunes songs to your BlackBerry Curve and listen to them without carrying a separate iPod. The BlackBerry Media Sync app synchronizes iTunes to the BlackBerry. You need to have the BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed beforehand, since Media Sync is an add-on to that program. Both applications are available free on the BlackBerry website.

Step 1

Download the BlackBerry Media Sync from the BlackBerry website to your desktop. There are applications for downloading to either a PC or a Mac.

Step 2

Connect your BlackBerry to your computer using the included USB cable. Open BlackBerry Media Sync on the desktop.

Step 3

Type a name in the Name Your Device field. Choose the memory you want to keep free in the Reserved Memory field. Click "OK."

Step 4

Turn on mass storage mode on your BlackBerry by clicking "Media Card" and then changing the Mass Storage Mode Support field. Press the "Menu" key and then click "Enable USB Mass Storage."

Step 5

Click the "Music" tab in BlackBerry Media Sync. Click the drop-down list and select "iTunes." Check the boxes of the playlists and songs you want to synchronize. Click "Sync Music" and then click "OK."

Step 6

Disconnect the BlackBerry from the computer. On the BlackBerry, click "Music" to view the songs.

Tip

  • You can also use BlackBerry Media Sync to import album art and pictures.
