Bluetooth wireless technology has revolutionized the way people communicate, as it provides the ability to talk on a mobile phone hands-free. All you need is a Bluetooth headset and a mobile phone with Bluetooth capabilities. Connect the two, and you can talk on your phone without needing to hold it. If you are not familiar with the technology, you may be surprised to know that it can also connect devices other than phones. You can use many Bluetooth headsets to listen to music wirelessly from MP3 players like the iPod.

Step 1

Check to see if your Bluetooth headset for your cell phone has multipoint technology. Multipoint technology allows a Bluetooth device to connect to more than one device. Otherwise you will only be able to connect it to either your phone or your iPod, not both.

Step 2

Buy a Bluetooth iPod adapter that is compatible with your headset's Bluetooth technology. For example, most headsets and adapters are compliant with Bluetooth 1.2, which was released in 2003.

Step 3

Connect the Bluetooth iPod adapter to your iPod, following the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 4

"Pair" the headset with the iPod adapter by setting the headset in pairing mode and placing it next to the iPod and adapter. Refer to the devices' user manuals for the exact instructions. This process varies with each device, but your should only have to do it once.

Step 5

Operate your iPod as desired and listen through the wireless headset.
