ActiveX controls are small Web applications built for Internet Explorer that make your surfing more dynamic. You may, from time to time, want to control whether you are able to view ActiveX content. If you enable ActiveX in your browser, you will be able to see some built-in Web functionality that you would not be able to see if you check the "Disable" option. The "Prompt" option will give you a notice when ActiveX controls are about to run.

Step 1

Open your Internet Explorer.

Step 2

Click "Tools" in the main menu. Scroll down and select "Internet Options."

Step 3

Select the "Security" tab. Hit the "Custom Level ..." button.

Step 4

Scroll down to ActiveX control options. Put a mark next to whether you want the specific ActiveX control option to be "Enable," "Disable" or "Prompt."

Step 5

Click the "OK" button. Restart your browser.
