Samsung designed the Impression for AT&T customers desiring advanced features in a touch-screen cell phone at a relatively low price. Like many Samsung phones in the same price range, the Impression ships with a 3-megapixel digital camera that can also shoot full-motion video. The video camera in the Impression is relatively easy to use, and it can capture clips with only a few taps. After shooting your videos, you may want to upload them from the Impression to your computer so you can edit or share the clips online.
Install Samsung New PC Studio
Step 1
Open your Web browser and navigate to the Impression support page on the Samsung website (link in Resources).
Step 2
Click the "See All Downloads" link on the Samsung Impression support page, then click "Software." Click the "EXE" button next to the "Samsung New PC Studio" link. Click the "Send" button in the pop-up window that appears.
Step 3
Click "Save" or "Save File" to open a file browser window. Select "Desktop" in the navigation pane and click "Save." Your browser downloads the PC Studio file and saves it your Windows desktop.
Step 4
Double-click the Samsung PC Studio setup file on the desktop to launch the setup wizard. Follow the prompts to install Samsung PC Studio on your computer, then restart the PC if prompted to do so.
Connect the Impression and Upload Videos
Step 1
Tap "Menu | Settings | Connectivity | Select USB Mode | Samsung PC Studio."
Step 2
Connect the USB data cable to the port on the bottom of the Samsung Impression; then connect the other end of the cable to an open USB port on your computer. Wait a few seconds for Windows to detect the phone and for the Samsung New PC Studio application to auto-launch. When the application opens, it lists the Samsung Impression SGH-A877 as the detected phone.
Step 3
Click on the "Phone" icon above the Samsung Impression SGH-A877 label in the New PC Studio window. A new phone explorer window opens, displaying a list of data folders on the Samsung Impression.
Step 4
Double-click the "Videos" folder in the phone explorer window. Press "Ctrl-A" to select all of the videos in the folder, then press "Ctrl-C" to copy the files to the Windows Clipboard. Alternatively, highlight only one filename and press "Ctrl-C" if you only want to upload one video from the phone to your computer. If you want to move a video from the phone to the computer, highlight the file and press "Ctrl-X." This removes the video file from the phone after you copy it to the computer.
Step 5
Double-click the "My Computer" icon in the New PC Studio window, then double-click the "Videos" library link.
Step 6
Right-click inside the Video library folder window, then click "Paste" on the pop-up menu. The New PC Studio application copies the videos to the Videos library. You can now access the videos in Windows Explorer and view them using Windows Media Player or another media player program.
Step 7
Unplug the USB data cable from the computer first, and then unplug the other end of the cable from the Samsung Impression phone.
