If you've used iTunes on your phone to download music files, you may want to sync them to your computer for use on other devices, to create playlists and burn CDs or to listen to on your computer. The process is fairly easy, made simpler with iTunes on your computer. Ensure that iTunes is installed before you begin the sync process, as your iPhone will not sync with other players like Windows Media Player.
Step 1
Plug the long, flat end of your USB cable into the bottom of the iPhone and the shorter end into the USB port on your computer. Your computer should recognize the hardware immediately, especially if you've use iTunes before. Run iTunes.
Step 2
Authorize the computer you're working on before you begin the transfer by clicking on "Store" and choosing "Authorize Computer." Enter your iTunes username and password so you're authorized to transfer media to and from the computer you're using.
Step 3
Click on "File" after your computer has been authorized. Look for an option that has the name of your device, as named when you first installed iTunes. Choose the "Transfer Purchases from iPhone" option. Wait for your iPhone to sync by watching the status bar at the top of iTunes.
Step 4
Click on "Music" under the Library heading to see the song with your other media.
