You can upgrade your Verizon coverage with an update to your preferred roaming list. You should perform this update every three months or whenever you travel or change your calling plan. The preferred roaming list, or PRL, is a list of Verizon's local cellular towers. If updated properly, your phone will prompt the PRL to connect with Verizon's towers, as opposed to other service providers' towers, whenever possible. This update takes only a few steps and can be completed in minutes.

Step 1

Dial *228 on your phone and press the "Send" button.

Step 2

Press "2" on your keypad when you hear the automated voice.

Step 3

Leave the call open until the automated system hangs up.

Step 4

Turn your phone off, then turn it back on.
