Smartphones offer several methods of customization to make your phone truly your own. When you have customized your phone with your own wallpaper image, you may get requests from others for the same image or you may decide to use it on another phone or computer. One of the best methods for transferring the wallpaper to another device is by using an SD card. There are a few ways to transfer a phone wallpaper to an SD card, so that you can then transfer it to another device.

USB Cable

Step 1

Insert your SD card into your computer's SD card slot.

Step 2

Connect the phone end of the USB cable to the port on your phone. Most phones that have a camera also have a USB port. However, your phone may not have a USB port, making this option unusable.

Step 3

Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer USB port. Wait for your computer to recognize your phone as a storage device.

Step 4

Open your phone's folder on your computer and navigate to the location of the wallpaper, then click and drag the file to the SD card that you inserted into your computer. The wallpaper is copied to the SD card.

Email

Step 1

Insert your SD card into your computer's SD card slot.

Step 2

Locate the wallpaper image in your phone's image gallery.

Step 3

Select the option to send the image using email. Not all phones have this ability, so consult your phone's user manual for information about functionality and for exact steps.

Step 4

Enter your email address when prompted and send the image.

Step 5

Open the email on your computer and download the attached image to the SD card storage device. The image is saved to your SD card.

Removable Memory Card

Step 1

Transfer the wallpaper image to the removable memory card in your phone. The removable memory card is most often a very small chip called a microSD card, located behind a small movable hatch on your phone. The controls on the phone for moving the image will vary based upon your phone model, so consult your user manual for exact steps. Not all phones feature a removable memory card.

Step 2

Remove the microSD card from your phone. This is usually accomplished by pressing the chip further in until it clicks, which releases it so that it can be pulled out.

Step 3

Insert the microSD card into the SD card adapter, then insert the SD card adapter into the SD card slot on your computer. Wait for your computer to recognize the storage device. If your computer doesn't have a media card slot, you can purchase an SD card reader that can be attached to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 4

Click and drag the wallpaper image file from the microSD card to a location on your computer hard drive. This copies the wallpaper image to your computer.

Step 5

Remove the SD card adapter from the SD card slot, then insert the standard SD card.

Step 6

Click and drag the wallpaper image file on your computer to your SD card. This copies the wallpaper image to the SD card.

Warning

  • Sending an image file as an email attachment from your phone often incurs an additional fee from your wireless carrier.
