The Apple iPod uses the iTunes application for syncing various media, including songs, from your computer to the iPod. Perhaps you have purchased a new iPod with a greater capacity and want to transfer songs onto it from your old iPod. ITunes cannot be used to transfer your media to another iPod, but several tools are available for purchase to perform this task, with prices ranging up to $40 as of early 2011.
IPod 2 iPod
Step 1
Navigate to the "Boys Downunder" website. Purchase and download the "iPod 2 iPod" tool. Shut down iTunes if it is running. Install the application by double-clicking on the installation icon and following the resulting instructions.
Step 2
Double-click the installed application to launch it. Connect the old iPod using the USB cord that came with it. The "iPod 2 iPod" application will display your iPod data within a tab on the left side and right side.
Step 3
Connect your new iPod to another port using the supplied USB cord. The iPod is represented by a tab on both sides. Click the tab on the right that represents the new iPod. Use the right-click menu on the left side or old iPod tab, to select all songs or individual ones. Click the right arrow, or drag the selection to transfer the chosen media to the new iPod on the right side of the panel.
