You build up the contact list in your cell phone over the years, adding friends, co-workers and family. This becomes a hassle when you get a new phone and want to keep all of your contacts. Most phones have software that allows you to transfer your phone book from your old phone to your new phone. One of the easiest ways to transfer your phone book from your Motorola phone to your BlackBerry is by transferring your contacts to Microsoft Outlook and then importing them to your new phone.

Transfer Contacts to Outlook

Step 1

Download Motorola Phone Tools if you don't have it already. You can get it online from the Motorola website (see Resources).

Step 2

Open Microsoft Outlook and create a new folder called Mobile Phone under the Contacts folder.

Step 3

Connect your Motorola phone to your computer with a USB cord and open Motorola Phone Tools.

Step 4

Click "Phonebook," and you should see any contacts already on your computer on the left side and contacts on your phone on the right side.

Step 5

Select the Mobile Phone folder from the drop-down menu on the PC Contacts pane.

Step 6

Choose the contacts you want to store on your computer and click "Phone to PC," which is the icon in the middle of the two lists.

Step 7

Click "Apply Changes" to save the new contacts to your computer and close the Phonebook Manager. Disconnect your phone and exit Motorola Phone Tools.

Import Contacts to BlackBerry

Step 1

Connect your BlackBerry to your computer with a USB cord and open BlackBerry Desktop Software. If you don't have the software, you can download it from BlackBerry's website (see Resources).

Step 2

Click "Organizer" from the left pane and then click "Configure Settings." Check the Address Book box in the Intellisync window and click "OK."

Step 3

Choose Microsoft Outlook as the desktop application you want to synchronize with BlackBerry and click "Next."

Step 4

Click "Two Way Sync" so Outlook and your phone continuously sync. Click "Next" after you choose your option. At this point, you may need to select options on the Microsoft Outlook Options page, then click "Finish."

Step 5

Close the Select Device window, verify that the Address Book box is checked and click "Sync."

Tip

  • These steps apply to the Motorola Android Series phones and BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0. Steps for earlier versions of either may be slightly different.
