Google Sync facilitates the importation of contact data stored in a Gmail account to iPhones employing iOS version 3.0 and above. While importing a contact list, Sync allows a user to concurrently transfer calendar and mail information. If importing data from a school's or other organization's Gmail account, the system administrator must first enable the Google Sync application.

Step 1

Tap the "Settings" button on the iPhone. On the Settings screen, tap the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" button. Select "Add Account" and tap the "Microsoft Exchange" button.

Step 2

Input your Google email address in the "Email" and "Username" fields. Input your Google account password in the "Password" field. Do not enter information into the "Domain" field. Tap the "Next" button. Tap the "Cancel" button if an "Unable to Verify Certificate" message appears.

Step 3

Enter "m.google.com" in the "Server" field and select "Next." Tap the "Contacts" button. Choose "Keep on my iPhone" when it appears. Select "Delete Existing Contacts" when prompted during the Google Sync installation. Installation will automatically begin via Google Sync Push support.
