The BlackBerry Curve features extremely fast email communications when compared to other smartphones, making it the top choice with business mobile phone users. However, the Curve includes lesser known features such as the ability to serve as a wireless modem for your laptop (also known as "tethering") which can provide your laptop with an Internet connection from any location that supports data transfer. Tether a T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve to your laptop in a few easy steps.

Step 1

Plug the small end of the USB cable supplied with the BlackBerry Curve into the USB port on the BlackBerry Curve. Plug the large end of the USB cable into a USB port on the PC computer that has BlackBerry Desktop Manager software installed.

Step 2

Find the "IP Modem" icon located in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Click on the "IP Modem" icon. Click "Configure" underneath the "Connect Settings" area.

Step 3

Click the "Keep the IP Modem connection open after the BlackBerry Desktop Manager is closed" check box located at the bottom of the window that appears. Click "OK."

Step 4

Click "Connect to the Internet" to establish an Internet connection. Open a Web browser and access a website to test and confirm connectivity is established.
