How to Sync iPhone Tasks to Outlook

by Jim Campbell

Microsoft Outlook lets you synchronize tasks, emails, contacts and calendar events with several devices, including the Apple iPhone. Synchronizing tasks and events lets you keep track of appointments throughout the day with your iPhone. This synchronization is especially beneficial to people who travel and keep scheduled appointments outside of the office. Outlook has an internal feature that synchronizes with the iPhone.

Step 1

Connect your iPhone with the USB cable to your computer with Outlook installed. The computer detects the connection of the iPhone and shows you an icon in the system tray for the iPhone. iTunes automatically opens as well.

Step 2

Click the iTunes taskbar icon to maximize it. Click "Devices" to see a list of devices connected to the computer. Click the "Info" tab in the iPhone section.

Step 3

Click "Sync Contacts From" and then "Outlook" from the pop-up menu list. Choose each Outlook entity you want to synchronize. To synchronize tasks, click "Outlook Tasks." You can also choose contacts and calendar events.

Step 4

Click "Apply." Wait several seconds as iTunes shows you the progress of the synchronization. When the sync finishes, click the "Eject" button to remove the iPhone on the computer.
