Sprint and Verizon are North American telecommunications companies that offer a wide variety of wireless calling plans. Both providers offer family and individual plans with various options regarding minutes and text messaging, and both can provide smartphone service with 3G or 4G data transfer rates. Verizon also offers pre-paid plans that do not require contracts.
Verizon Individual Plans
Verizon's individual talk-only or talk-and-unlimited-text plans are available with 450, 900 or unlimited anytime minutes per month, with optional messaging and data add-on packages. These plans all include unlimited calling to other Verizon customers, unlimited night and weekend minutes and free roaming.
Verizon Family Plans
Verizon's family plans include anywhere from two to five phones that all use the same pool of anytime minutes, messaging and data. Customers can choose from plans that include 700, 1,400, 2,000 or unlimited anytime minutes. Some plans include unlimited texts. As with the individual plans, data and messaging add-ons are available, and all plans include unlimited calls to other Verizon customers, unlimited night and weekend minutes and no roaming charges.
Verizon Prepaid Plans
For those who do not wish to sign a contract for wireless cell phone service, Verizon offers prepaid daily and monthly plans. The daily plans are available with a daily charge for unlimited talk, or a charge per minute of talk time. Monthly plans are available with allotments of 450, 900 or unlimited anytime minutes. Both the daily and the monthly plans have surcharges per text message and for data transfer, as well as domestic roaming charges.
Sprint Individual Plans
Sprint offers wireless plans in five categories, all of which come with unlimited night and weekend minutes and none of which have roaming charges. The basic plan includes 200 anytime minutes, while a talk-only plan, an unlimited data transfer plan and an unlimited text messaging plan are all available with a choice of 450 or 900 anytime minutes. For those who want to plug in all time time, Sprint also has a "Simply Everything" plan that includes unlimited anytime minutes as well as unlimited text messaging and data transfer.
Sprint Family Plans
Sprint also offers four different types of family plans, all of which include unlimited night and weekend minutes and can have up to five telephones included. The "Talk for Family" plan comes with 700 anytime minutes. The "Everything Data" plan comes with unlimited data transfer and the "Everything Messaging" plan comes with unlimited text messaging. Both of these plans are available with a choice of 1,500 or 3,000 anytime minutes. Finally, the "Simply Everything Family" plan has unlimited anytime minutes, text messaging and data transfer.
