Your Apple iPhone enables you to keep in touch with contacts via phone call, text message or email. The iPhone supports several email clients, including Windows Live Hotmail. When you set up your Hotmail account on the iPhone, your contacts and calendars automatically sync to the device. The iPhone displays notifications to alert you to new messages in your Hotmail inbox. With Hotmail, you can also send photos to your contacts via email.
Step 1
Power on the iPhone and tap "Settings | Mail | Contacts | Calendar."
Step 2
Touch "Add Account," then tap "Windows Live Hotmail."
Step 3
Type your Hotmail email address and password. Enter a name for the account in the Description field. This name will help you identify your Hotmail account if you have several other email accounts on the iPhone.
Step 4
Select the items that you want to sync to the iPhone, such as your reminders, contacts and calendars. If the button next to an item says "On," it will sync to the iPhone.
Step 5
Touch "Save" to sync the selected items and finish setting up your Hotmail account.
Tip
- If you don't have iOS 5, connect your iPhone to your computer and install it via iTunes (see Resources).
- If your iPhone uses an operating system earlier than iOS 5 and you don't want to upgrade to a newer version, you can still set up your Hotmail account on the device. To do so, tap "Settings | Mail | Contacts | Calendars | Add Account | Microsoft Exchange." Enter your Hotmail email address in the Username and Email fields. Leave the Domain field blank. Enter your password, then type "m.hotmail.com" in the Server field. Select the account items you wish to sync and tap "Save."
