The Motorola Q, also referred to as the Moto Q, is one of the many cell phones offered to customers through Verizon Wireless. If you are a Verizon Wireless customer with a new Moto Q phone, you need to have your phone activated before you use it. If you purchase your Moto Q in a Verizon store, a Verizon sales representative activates your new phone for you. If you purchase it online through the Verizon Wireless website, you must activate your phone at home.

Step 1

Log in to your Verizon Wireless account and choose the “Activate Phone” link. Click on it to begin the process of activating your Moto Q. Enter the ESN number located on the back of your phone under your battery – remove your battery to find it.

Step 2

Provide your cell phone number and ZIP code and click “Continue.” Enter the order number from your online purchase receipt – this is included in your package upon delivery of your new phone. Confirm your information and click “Submit.”

Step 3

Turn off your old cell phone and turn on your new one – ensure that the battery on your new phone is fully charged prior to beginning the activation process.

Step 4

Dial *228 from your new phone. Select option one from the automated messaging system to program your new phone. Wait while your phone is programmed. An automated voice will tell you when your phone’s activation is complete. Hang up your Moto Q and begin using it regularly.

Tip

  • Log in to your account to save your contacts using the Verizon Wireless backup assistant; this allows you to automatically transfer your contacts to your new phone without having to do it manually.
