Most computers are shut down by clicking the "Start" button, then the "Turn Off Computer" icon and finally, the "Turn Off" icon. However, if you don't want to have to open the Start menu and go through all the steps, you can create an icon on your desktop that will shut down the computer when you double-click it.

Step 1

Right-click an empty place on the Desktop, select "New" and then select "Shortcut."

Step 2

Type "shutdown -s -t 00" into the Create Shortcut Wizard and then click the "Next" button.

Step 3

Type in a name for your shortcut and then click the "Finish" button.
