Samsung smartphones like the Epic, the Fascinate and the Focus, run on Android software and offer a variety of features, much like an iPhone or a Blackberry. When you first receive your Samsung smartphone, you'll notice that it looks different than other smartphones. The more you use the device, the more proficient you'll become. Start out by discovering some of your phone's capabilities by employing some of its best features.
Status Information
Samsung smartphones use status tiles that keep you updated when it comes to connecting to work, family and friends. You can create your status tiles by choosing which applications the phone should continually update, from Facebook, emailing, instant messaging and your favorite Android applications. Then, you'll simply swipe the screen downward to see real time updates appear on the home screen of your phone. You can also add all of your social networking accounts to Social Hub, so you needn't check sites like Myspace, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn individually.
Swype Settings
Swype is a revolutionary way of typing on your Samsung smartphone that allows you to become more efficient. Instead of typing each letter separately on your on-screen keyboard, Swype allows you to keep your finger in continual contact with the on-screen keyboard as you move from letter to letter. You'll need to enable your Swype, so go to "Settings" and then "Language and Keyboard" in order to set your Swype settings to begin using the feature.
Write and Go
Most smartphones require you to enter an application separately in order to type a note, text or calendar date. Samsung phones allow you to use the Write and Go tool to write the note first and then insert it where it needs to be in the phone. For example, perhaps you have a business meeting coming up. Instead of typing the information directly into your calendar, choose the Write and Go tool, type in the information and then choose where it should go. You can even choose more than one location, like calendar and text to send the information to someone else.
Widgets and Folders
Each time you download an application or tool, an icon will appear on your screen. Samsung phones can also use functionality widgets that are constantly updating throughout the day. To organize your tools, widgets, folders and icons, tap and hold your finger on a blank space. You can then drag the items around your screen until they are organized the way you want them. Should you need to delete an app or widget, tap and hold the image until you see a small trash can appear, then drag the icon into the trash.
