Garmin's eTrex Legend guides you to your destination whether you're walking in the park or hiking up a mountain trail. If your eTrex Legend won't work properly or does not receive a satellite signal, performing a master reset may fix the problem. A master reset deletes all data and preferences on the eTrex Legend and restores the settings to factory default values.

Step 1

Press the "Power" button to turn off the Garmin eTrex Legend.

Step 2

Hold down the "Page," "Power" and "Enter" buttons together.

Step 3

Release the buttons when you see the message, "Do you really want to erase all user data?"

Step 4

Select "Yes." The eTrex Legend will perform a master reset and return all settings to a default state.

Step 5

Set the eTrex Legend outside for at least 20 minutes to allow the device to acquire a satellite signal.

Tip

  • To reset maximum elevation data, press the "Menu" button and select "Reset." Select each item that you want to reset, highlight "Apply" and press in on the rocker.

Warning

  • Resetting the device will delete all tracks, routes, waypoints and geocaches.
