NetZero DSL service allows customers to experience faster connection and download speeds than dial-up Internet. In order to get NetZero DSL service, you need to check the availability and meet various computer requirements for the service to work. A DSL modem is also necessary; NetZero provides one in its DSL installation kit for DSL customers.
Availability
NetZero DSL is available to many people nationwide, but not everyone is eligible. Determining whether NetZero is available in your location is the important first step to getting NetZero DSL. To check eligibility, you enter your phone number on the NetZero website, and the website will provide you with availability information. You could also call NetZero's support center to speak to someone. That number is available at the same registration page as the online availability check.
Computer Requirements
Different hardware and system requirements are necessary for NetZero DSL, depending upon the system you currently have. NetZero's website lists the specific requirements for Windows 98/ME, Windows 2000/XP, Windows Vista and Mac OSX. Certain minimum requirements are necessary for your processor, RAM, hard disk space and a CD or DVD ROM-drive. You will also need a USB port or an Ethernet Network Interface Card with most operating systems.
Provided Requirements
If you live in a location where NetZero DSL is available, and you have the minimum computer requirements, NetZero will provide you with the remaining items needed to set up your DSL. These items include NetZero DSL software, which provides setup instructions; DSL modem and phone filters, which prevent the DSL service from tying up your regular landline phone. To install the filters, insert the phone filters into your phone jack, and attach your phone and answering machine to the filters.

NetZero DSL comes bundled with three services at no additional charge. MegaMail is email service for NetZero customers. It has built-in spam blockers and email virus protection. Pop-up blocker is also included, which prevents pop-up adds from appearing, and Travel Pack is provided to allow you to access the Internet via a dial-up connection for up to 10 hours for free.
