Recycle Bin in Windows XP is a utility that holds deleted files until they are permanently erased from the hard drive. You can also restore the items placed into the bin if you deleted them accidentally. It's possible to remove this utility from your desktop if you do not use it much. You have to tweak the System Registry of the operating system to accomplish this in a few minutes.
Step 1
Click the "Start" menu, select "All Programs," click "Accessories," then click "Notepad."
Step 2
Copy and paste the following into the new document window:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu]
"{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
"{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}"=dword:00000001
Step 3
Click the "File" menu option, select "Save As," type "Hidebin.reg" as the file name, and click "Save."
Step 4
Double-click the new "Hidebin.reg" to add a new entry to the System Registry.
Step 5
Click the desktop anywhere in a blank space and press "F5" key for the Recycle Bin to disappear.
Warning
- Do not make any other changes to the system registry to avoid damage to the operating system.
