How to Remove Pop-ups with the Google Toolbar

by C. Taylor

The Google Toolbar features a pop-up blocker to stop websites from spontaneously launching secondary pop-up windows. When enabled, the Google Toolbar's pop-up blocker prevents all pop-up windows from being displayed, which is probably what you want for most sites. However, some sites use pop-ups for useful features, such as logging in, displaying information or playing videos. Enabling these specific pop-ups does not mean you must disable the entire pop-up blocker; instead, you can simply allow individual sites to bypass the blocker. Note that the pop-up blocker is offered only for the Internet Explorer version of the Google Toolbar.

Step 1

Click the "Settings" icon, which looks like a wrench, on the Google Toolbar.

Step 2

Click the "Tools" tab.

Step 3

Check "Pop-up blocker"

Step 4

Click "Save."

Step 5

Click the "Pop-up blocker" button on the Google Toolbar to allow pop-ups for a specific website. Click it again to revoke pop-up permissions.
