How to Remove the Mydoom Virus

W32.MyDoom is a dangerous virus that comes in many forms. Once installed, it opens a port on your computer that it uses to send itself to email addresses that it finds on your computer. This malicious parasite, along with its associate files, installs to system folders where they run secret processes. Using the W32.MyDoom removal tool, remove all instances of W32.MyDoom safely without damaging your computer.

Step 1

Click the Windows "Start" button, right-click "Computer," and select "Properties" to launch the System Properties dialog box. Click "System Protection" in the pane on the left and choose "Configure." Click the "Turn off System Protection" and click "OK."

Step 2

Go to the Symantec support page and click the "Download Removal Tool" link to download the FxMydoom.exe file (see Resources). When prompted, click "Save." Select the desktop for the location to save the file and click "Save" to download the FxMydoom.exe file to your desktop.

Step 3

Close all the programs that you are currently using and disconnect your computer from the network or Internet. Double-click the FxMydoom.exe file to launch the MyDoom removal tool. Click "Start" to begin the removal process. The removal tool will remove MyDoom and all its associated files.

Step 4

Restart your computer when the process completes and run the Mydoom removal tool again to ensure that your computer system is clean.

Step 5

Re-enable System Restore from the System Properties dialog box and reconnect your network or Internet connection.
