How to Record With an AT&T DVR

by Si Kingston

An AT&T DVR can store over 100 hours of recorded programs on its hard disk. Schedule the DVR to record an entire series, or just to record a movie that will play in a few hours. The DVR will record up to three programs simultaneously. All recorded content is accessible in the DVR menu. Play, pause or delete content from the menu whenever you get ready. Once the DVR is full, you will need to delete some content to make room for new recordings.

Step 1

Turn on the TV and AT&T DVR cable box.

Step 2

Turn to a program that you want to record. Then press the "Record" button on the DVR remote. Recording will automatically stop when the program has ended.

Step 3

Select the "Guide" button the remote control. Scroll through the program list to find a show that you want to record now or in the future.

Step 4

Click the "Record" button to schedule the DVR to record that program. Select a recording option when prompted: Record This Show or Record Entire Series. If you are recording the entire series, select whether to record only the first run of the show or first run and repeats, on what channel and during what time. Then click "A" to accept the recording options.

Step 5

Click the "DVR" button to view all recorded content. Use the arrow keys to scroll through recorded programs, and highlight the program you want to watch. Then press the "Enter" key to select it.

Step 6

Choose "Play" to view the program. Click the "Pause" button to pause the program for up to 90 minutes, or the "Stop" button to stop playing the program.

Step 7

Click the "DVR" button. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the list of recorded programs. Click "Select" when you reach a program title that you want to delete, then select "Erase" from the menu. Confirm that you want to erase the program.
