A Memorex replacement battery for an iPod charges in the same manner as the original Apple rechargeable battery that came with the personal audio device. One recharging option is to connect the iPod to a computer with a USB cable. The other recharging method involves connecting the DC power jack to the device and an electrical outlet. Either option will take about three hours to put a full charge on the Memorex iPod battery.

Recharging via USB

Step 1

Set the iPod to "Hold" by turning the switch on the top of the device near the headphone jack.

Step 2

Connect the plug on one end of the USB cable to the matching port on the iPod.

Step 3

Plug the other end of the USB cable into any free port on a computer. The computer must be turned on to recharge the Memorex battery in the iPod.

Recharging with DC Power Adapter.

Step 1

Set the iPod to "Hold" by turning the switch on the top of the device near the headphone jack.

Step 2

Insert the round plug on the end of the DC power adapter into the matching power jack on the edge of the iPod.

Step 3

Connect the other end of the power adapter to an electrical outlet.

Tip

  • A Memorex iPod battery should reach an 80 percent charge in about one hour, with a full charge in three hours.
