PIcture messages are also referred to as multimedia messages or MMS. This format makes it quick and easy to send a receive photos, text and audio, on your mobile handset. Verizon wireless offers MMS services to customers who then pay the associated fees. As long as your phone has MMS capability, you can receive picture messages on your Verizon cell phone in an instant.

Step 1

Make sure that your cell phone is MMS capable. If you're unsure, visit a local store or check with the manufacturer's guide. MMS capability will allow you to view the photo message on your handset. If you don't have the feature, Verizon will send you a text message giving you details on how to view the picture message online.

Step 2

Wait for an alert from your phone notifying you that you've received a picture message.

Step 3

View the message by accessing the messaging interface from your phone's main menu. It will be in your inbox.

Step 4

Open the file by selecting the message in your inbox. Depending on the file size of the picture, this could take more than a few seconds. The picture will appear on your handset screen.

Tip

  • If you only want to receive MMS messages and not send them, Verizon Wireless does not require that you purchase an MMS messaging plan for your phone.
