Microsoft PowerPoint is a business presentation software that presents material to an audience in a format that transitions from slide to slide. PowerPoint is capable of handling graphics, text, photos, graphs, animation, movies and sound within the slide, so the presentation can be quite striking and effective. Frequently, a PowerPoint presentation is shared with others on the computer. If the recipient wishes to view the PowerPoint presentation on his computer, he can receive the file and open it in his email.
Step 1
Boot up your computer and note the presence of the PowerPoint program or reader on your computer, which you will need to view the slide presentation. Skip to Step 4 if your computer has the program or reader loaded, or proceed to Step 2 if it does not.
Step 2
Download the free Softonic Microsoft PowerPoint reader. See Resources for a link. Click on the "Download" button for PowerPoint Viewer 2007 and wait for the program to download. Save it to your computer's hard drive.
Step 3
Double-click the PowerPointViewer.exe program file on your hard disk to begin installation, following the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
Step 4
Click on your email program to open it.
Step 5
Locate the specific email in your inbox that contains the PowerPoint attachment, and open the email.
Step 6
Note the PowerPoint attachment in the email, and click on the icon to open the file.

Tip
- PowerPoint Viewer 2007 is a free reader that acknowledges the PowerPoint extensions -- .ppt, .pptx, .pptm, .pot, .potx, .potm, .pps, .ppsx, .ppsm -- if a version of PowerPoint is not installed or already loaded on your computer.
Warning
- Never open an attachment from an unfamiliar source. It could contain a virus that could infect your computer. Alternatively, run a virus check on the attachment before opening it.
