The fourth generation (4G) iPod Nano is one of the many iPods that supports video playback, and is able to play movies that are in the MP4 video format found in the iTunes Store. In order to add a purchased movie to the iPod Nano you must sync it to the device in iTunes, which comes with the iPod Nano on an installation CD and is also available online as a download on the Apple site. For movies that are not purchased in iTunes you must first convert it in iTunes, followed by syncing it to the iPod Nano.

Step 1

Plug the iPod USB cable into an empty USB port on your computer, and plug the other end into the bottom of your iPod Nano.

Step 2

Double-click the iTunes icon on your PC desktop or single click the iTunes icon on your Mac's screen if it does not run automatically after plugging in the iPod Nano.

Step 3

Click the iPod Nano tab located under the "Devices" section in the iTunes source list. Click the "Movies" tab in the main iTunes window, and check the box next to "Sync Movies."

Step 4

Select "Automatically include all movies" or check the box next to the movies you wish to add.

Step 5

Click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes program window, and wait for the movie to sync to your iPod Nano.

Step 6

Click the "Eject" button next to the iPod Nano tab in the iTunes source list, and physically unplug the iPod Nano from your computer.

Tip

  • To convert a non-iTunes movie to the MP4 format, add it to your iTunes library and click "Advanced" at the top of the menu. Select "Create iPod or iPhone version" from the drop-drop list and sync it to your iPod Nano.
