Adding movies to your iPod only requires synching the iTunes program to the iPod via USB cable. For movies not in the MPEG-4 video format compatible with an iPod, you must convert them in iTunes. In your iTunes settings you can choose to automatically add purchased movies to your iPod during synchronization, as long as you have enough free space.

Sync Purchased iTunes Movies to iPod

Step 1

Click on the "iTunes" icon on your Mac or PC desktop.

Step 2

Plug the USB cable into the iPod dock connector at the bottom of the iPod. Plug the other end into a free USB port on your computer.

Step 3

Click the "iPod" icon under the "Devices" section of the iTunes source list on the left side of the program window.

Step 4

Click the "Movies" tab, and select the box next to "Automatically include." Click the drop-down menu next to "Automatically" to select all, recent or unwatched movies.

Step 5

Select the "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes window to save the adjustments and sync the movie to your iPod.

Sync Non-Purchased Movies to iPod

Step 1

Open iTunes and click "File" at the top of the menu. Select "Add file to library" from the drop-down menu, and double-click the movie file to add it to the library.

Step 2

Click the "Movies" tab in the iTunes source list and click the recently added movie file to highlight it. Click "Advanced" at the top of the iTunes menu and select "Create iPod or iPhone Version" from the drop-down list.

Step 3

Connect your iPod to your computer by inserting the iPod USB cable into the computer's USB port and at bottom of the iPod.

Step 4

Click the "iPod" button in the iTunes source list and select the "Movies" tab. Select the "Sync Movies" tab and check the box next to "Automatically."

Step 5

Select the "All" drop-down menu to change which videos are added to your iPod, and click the "Apply" button in the bottom-right corner of the iTunes window to save the changes and sync the video.
