A DSL line is a high-speed Internet connection that works over a phone line. The PlayStation 3 supports DSL connections through a port in the back. Once connected, you should be able to access the PlayStation Store where you can purchase games, themes and other programs. Once you know the process, accessing the PlayStation store is relatively easy.
Turn on your computer and open a website to ensure your DSL is connected.
Visit the PlayStation (us.PlayStation.com) website. Point to "PlayStation" network on the left menu and click "PlayStation Store." Click the region you live in if asked.
Click on the "Sign In" tab in the top right corner of the screen. Enter your personal details and sign in or register for an account. You will need to provide your credit card details if you wish to purchase items.
Log-in and cycle through the various sections of the PlayStation Store to make purchases or download free films, games and other programs. If you access the PlayStation Store over a PS3, you won't be able to play them.
Connect the DSL line to appropriate port in the back of your PlayStation 3 and turn on the console.
Use the controller to scroll to the "Settings" tab on the left and move the cursor down to "Network Settings."
Select the "Internet Connection Settings" option and click "Yes" when asked to confirm that you want to disconnect. Select the option marked "Custom" on the next screen and then press "Wired" as the connection option.
Select "Scan" to locate your connection and click on the one with the appropriate name. You may need to enter a password if you're using a secured network.
Exit back to the main menu and click on the "PlayStation Network" tab. Enter your personal information including credit card information if you plan to purchase things. Exit back to the main menu and click on the "PlayStation Store" tab.
