The Samsung Instinct, Instinct s30 and Instinct HD are touchscreen phones that operate on the Sprint wireless network. Sprint offers its proprietary Sprint Mobile Sync software and service to allow syncing of contacts from phones to Sprint servers, remote deletion of contacts if the phone is lost or stolen, and import and management of contacts using a personal computer. Microsoft Office Outlook can export contacts to a comma-separated value (CSV) file that is readable by Sprint Mobile Sync. All of the Instinct phones support Sprint Mobile Sync.
Open a Web browser and log into your Sprint account. Click "My Online Tools" and "Sprint Mobile Sync." You'll be prompted to create an account. Enter the information requested until you are asked for a code from you mobile phone.
Power on your Samsung Instinct. Open the main menu and tap "Settings." Tap "Mobile Sync" and then tap "Activate." Wait for a message to arrive from Sprint and tap "View" to read it. Copy the code from the message and enter it on the Sprint Mobile Sync website where requested. Complete the online registration. Your phone will sync contacts with Sprint every 30 minutes.
Click the "Download Desktop Software" link on the Sprint Mobile Sync website. Save the file to your computer. Double-click on the downloaded file to launch the installer wizard. Click "Next" several times to complete the installation.
Launch Microsoft Office Outlook. Click "File," "Export" and select "Contacts." Choose "CSV" from the export options and click "OK." Note the location where the export file is saved for use in the next step.
Open the Sprint Mobile Sync software on your computer. Click "My Contacts" and then click "Import." Click "Browse" and point to the CSV file you just exported. Click "Import Contacts" and wait for the process to complete. The imported contacts will sync with your Samsung Instinct within 30 minutes.
