By default, app icons on your iPhone are arranged by the order in which you installed them. However, you have complete control over how your apps are organized and can change the arrangement of icons at any time. In addition to shifting the rows and columns of apps, you can move apps to separate home screens or group them into folders.

Step 1

Tap on any app icon on the iPhone and hold down on the screen for a few seconds. Release your finger when the apps on the screen are shaking. This indicates that your home screen is now in edit mode.

Step 2

Tap on an icon and drag it to another part of the screen to move it to a new row or column.

Step 3

Tap on an icon and drag it to the far left or right edge of the screen to shift it to a different home screen.

Step 4

Tap on an icon and drag it on top of another app icon to create a new folder.

Step 5

Use the onscreen keyboard to enter a name for the new app folder and tap "Done" when you are finished. Drag and drop additional apps on top of the folder to add them to the folder.

Step 6

Press the home button at the bottom of your phone to exit edit mode.
