Putting music on your Verizon music-capable phone means you can leave the MP3 player at home and carry one less device around with you. Compatible Verizon phones with microSD card slots may require slightly differing steps, though the overall process remains the same. To use your microSD card with your computer, you may need an adapter to make the small card fit into a larger slot made for standard-sized SD cards.
Formatting Your Card
Step 1
Turn your Verizon phone off and insert the microSD card into the phone, putting the card's golden contacts in first. Turn the phone on.
Step 2
Navigate to your "Settings & Tools" menu, then choose "Memory" and "Memory Card." Select "Options" and "Format Card." Formatting the memory card erases the data on it and prepares it for use in your Verizon phone. If your phone doesn't have these menu titles, consult the user's manual section on formatting microSD cards.
Step 3
Turn your phone off once the formatting completes. Remove the memory card, usually accomplished by pushing it further into the slot until you hear or feel it click, unlocking. Release it and pull the card from the phone.
Transferring Music
Step 1
Insert your microSD card into your computer's microSD card reader. If it doesn't have one, but has a larger SD card slot, you'll need an adapter to make the microSD card fit. If you have no memory card reader on the computer, you'll need an external one, which usually plugs into a USB slot on your computer. Connect your microSD card to the computer using whichever method applies to you.
Step 2
Click "Start," "Computer" and find the drive letter associated with the memory card, which may say "MicroSD," "removable media" or something along those lines. Double-click the drive and open the "My_Music" folder within the microSD card.
Step 3
Find the songs on your computer you'd like to transfer to the memory card. Drag the first file into the "My_Music" folder. Repeat until your card is full or you've transferred all the music you want. Quickly transfer multiple files at once by holding "Ctrl" down while you click each file you want to transfer, then move them over to "My_Music" as a group.
Step 4
Close the "My_Music" folder and remove the microSD card from your computer. Turn your phone off and insert the card into it. Turn it on and go to "Music & Tones" then "My Music." Again, the specific location your phone stores the songs may differ, so consult the manual if you're having trouble finding it.
