How to Move the Icons on a Samsung Vibrant

by Jason Spidle

The Samsung Vibrant is a T-Mobile smartphone running the Google Android operating system. As with all Android smartphones, moving and organizing the icons on your Samsung Vibrant is accomplished through simple touch gestures. Once you've entered the icon editing mode, you can move icons into the app drawer, onto the home screen or into folders.

Move Icons on Home Screen

Step 1

Press the "Home" button to view the Vibrant home screen.

Step 2

Press and hold an app icon until the phone vibrates and the app icons on the screen are shaking.

Step 3

Press and hold the icon of an app you want to move and drag to the position you would like to move it. You can move the icon to different screens by dragging the icon to the leftmost or rightmost edge of the screen, or you can store the app in the Android app drawer by dragging it to the app drawer icon at the bottom center of the screen.

Step 4

Press the app drawer icon to view apps in your Android app drawer. App icons can be moved from this location in the same manner described above. Just tap and hold an icon until the phone vibrates, then drag it to your preferred location on the home screen or the home row.

Create Folders in App Drawer

Step 1

Press the Android app drawer icon.

Step 2

Press the "Menu" button and select "Grid View" if your app drawer is not already in grid view.

Step 3

Press the "Menu" button again and tap "New Folder."

Step 4

Type a name for your folder. Select the apps you want to store in this folder and then tap "OK." Apps stored in folders can only be accessed through the app drawer and the folders cannot be moved to the Vibrant home screen.
