While Facebook doesn't have a special protocol for changing the screen size, you can still make the page larger or smaller using a method that works for all Web pages. Doing so can help protect your privacy or just make the site easier to see. When you adjust the screen size on Facebook, the size change stays the same for all sites opened in the same tab.

Increase

Increasing the size of the Facebook windows will expand everything on the screen. Pictures, icons and text will all get larger. Hold down "Ctrl" and press "+" on your keyboard to make the screen larger on a PC. Hold down "Cmd" and press "+" on your keyboard to make the screen larger on a Mac. The more times you press the "+" button, the larger the display will become.

Decrease

Decreasing the screen size works the same way as increasing it -- all items on the screen are made smaller. Hold down "Ctrl" and press "-" on your keyboard to make the screen smaller on a PC. Hold down "Cmd" and press "-" on your keyboard to make the screen smaller on a Mac. The more times you press the "-" button, the smaller the display will become.

Adjust Font

On Windows 8, you can adjust the display font size without changing the screen resolution. It makes texts easier to read without degrading the appearance of images, icons and other content. To change the font settings, hover over the upper right-side corner of your desktop, click "Search" and then type "Display." Click "Settings" and then select your display size. Click "Apply" to finish. Once you've signed out of Windows and signed back in, the changes will take effect.

Benefits

The ability to increase and decrease the screen size on Facebook makes Facebook more accessible to those with vision conditions and helps make the site fit better on more devices. If you're reading on a larger screen, for example, smaller text will appear bigger than the same size text on a netbook screen. To see the best detail in photos or to examine the nuances of a Facebook game, increasing the screen size is a must. If you're using your laptop in a public place and want privacy, you can decrease the screen size to prevent any onlookers from reading the content on the screen.
