The LG VX9700, better known as the LG Dare, is a touch-screen mobile phone that was introduced in the United States in June 2008. The Dare offers easy navigation via the touch-screen, an included mp3 player, a camcorder and a 3.2 MP camera. LG Dare users who have want to make their MP3 music into a ringtone can do so on the phone itself using the Bitpim program.

Step 1

Access the "Program" menu on the LG Dare.

Step 2

Select the "Bitpim" program option. The program may take a few moments to load.

Step 3

Select the "Ringers" option. Touch the "Add New Ringers" icon (located on the tool bar at the top of the screen.)

Step 4

Click the "Choose Files" box, which will appear automatically.

Step 5

Browse your stored MP3 files to choose the song you want to make into a ringtone. Touch this MP3 file to select it.

Step 6

Choose "Convert Audio File" when the option appears. Enter the following values into the provided fields: "Sample Rate" = 32,000, "Channels" = Stereo(2), and "Bit Rate" = 64.

Step 7

Select "Convert" at the bottom of the screen.

Step 8

Select "Play Clip" when the option appears. This option will play the entire MP3 song so that you can choose a portion of the song to designate as your ringtone (the song may not be used in its entirety.)

Step 9

Touch the pink and red-colored arrows to designate where you want the ringtone to start and stop. The arrows can be moved anywhere in the MP3 file, as long as the total clip time does not exceed 30 seconds.

Step 10

Select "Play Clip" to preview your ringtone. When you are satisfied with the way the ringtone sounds, choose "OK."

Step 11

Choose the "Send Phone Data" option when it appears. Choose "Ringtones" from the destination options.

Step 12

Navigate to the "Ringtones" folder on your phone to listen to and use your new ringtone.
