If you like to listen to books on the go, creating your own custom audiobooks in iTunes provides options such as playback speed, track grouping and pausing in the middle of a chapter. You can convert any audio files to audiobooks and grouping several files into one audiobook is simple with iTunes. In just a few minutes, you can create a new audiobook to listen to at home or take with you on any of you mobile Apple products.

Step 1

Transfer the audio files that you want to use into iTunes. You can do this by burning a CD, purchasing the files online or moving them from another folder on your computer into the iTunes library.

Step 2

Select the files, right-click them and choose "Get Info."

Step 3

Click on the "Options" tab.

Step 4

Choose "Audiobook" from the "Media Kind" drop-down menu and "Yes" from the "Remember Position" menu.

Step 5

Adjust the titles of the tracks so that all the chapters have the same character length. For example, you would change "Chapter 3" to "Chapter 03." This ensures that the tracks will stay in the correct order.
