Amazon is far more than simply a place to buy books online. Instead, it can assist in many of your online marketplace needs. In addition to purchasing a wide variety of items ranging from books to furniture to pet supplies to makeup, you can sell many items as well. If you wish to sell a product that isn't already listed on Amazon, you can create a product page yourself to list the product for sale.
Step 1
Navigate to the Amazon site (see Resources). Log in to your account. If you're not already a Pro Merchant, you must become one. To do so, click on "Your Account" then on the "Your Seller Account" link. Find the "Settings" heading and click on the "Upgrade" button in that section. This will give you the option of upgrading to a Pro Merchant account, which costs a fixed monthly fee of $39.99 as of January 2011.
Step 2
Navigate to Amazon's Create a New Product: Classify page (see Resources). This page is the beginning of the product-creation process. Enter a few words describing your product into the box under the "Search for your product's category" header, then click "Find category." This will display potential categories for the item you wish to list. Click on the best option to move on with the product-listing process.
Step 3
Enter all of the required information about the product you are listing. This includes a name of the product for all categories, but the other required information will vary by category. It may include items such as the UPC code or the DVD region. Click the "Save & Continue" button when you're done entering the information.
Step 4
Provide additional details about your product. This can include an image, a detailed description of the product, your product's features, search terms that people might use to try to find your product and the product's shipping weight. When you're done with this information, click "Save & Continue" again to finish creating your product listing. You can now list products of this type for sale.
