Apple's iTunes provides multiple services for any iPod owner. iTunes allows users to do everything from multimedia purchases to content syncing -- a process where songs, movies or other content are copied over from a computer to an iPod. None of this can be done if the iPod doesn't show up within iTunes. Fortunately, your iPod can easily be connected to show up within iTunes.
Step 1
Open up iTunes on your computer.
Step 2
Take the rectangular end of the iPod connector cable and plug it into the iPod.
Step 3
Take the other end of the cable and plug it into the appropriate port on your computer. Depending on your iPod's age, this port can vary. Older iPods used a FireWire cable, while newer iPods exclusively use USB.
Step 4
Wait for the iPod to be detected within iTunes, where it displays under "Devices."
Tip
- If your iPod doesn't show up within iTunes, try resetting the iPod by using a model-specific combination (see "Resources").
