Thanks to the iTunes software from Apple, downloading music for an iPod is a matter of a few quick and easy steps. If you have an iPod Touch model, you can download directly on the iPod without needing to connect to a computer. For all other iPod models, you will need to download the music onto your computer from the iTunes store, then sync it to your iPod.

IPod Touch

Step 1

Open iTunes on your iPod Touch by tapping the purple iTunes icon on the home screen.

Step 2

Tap "Search" at the bottom of the screen, then search for the items you want to download by typing the title, artist or keyword into the search field at the top of the screen.

Step 3

Select an item from the list of results, then tap its price to begin the download. You may be prompted to enter your Apple ID and password before the download will continue.
