Although touchscreens have lately become extremely popular with smart phones, the technology has been around for a while. This includes the capability to make a selection on a touchscreen monitor. Restaurants, in fact, have been using touchscreens for years. It is possible to purchase a touchscreen and connect it to your current computer, including the Eee PC.

Step 1

Connect the VGA cable onto the VGA port of the Eee PC computer. Hand tighten the screws on the side of the cable to ensure a secure connection.

Step 2

Plug the opposite end of the cable into the VGA port on the monitor. Hand tighten the screws on this side of the cable, also.

Step 3

Plug the included USB cable into both the monitor and the Eee PC. The USB cable is required for the touchscreen to work.

Step 4

Insert the driver installation CD into the computer. Although the screen displays without any drivers, your computer needs the information to know how to use the touchscreen data.

Step 5

Click "Next," then accept the license agreement. Leave the installation name and location as the default settings, then follow the remainder of the prompts to complete the driver installation. After it is complete, you can begin using your new touchscreen monitor on the Eee computer.

Tip

  • Touchscreen monitors and LCDs typically work with either a serial or USB cable. The Eee PC doesn't have a serial port, so be sure to purchase a touchscreen that is USB compatible.
