For years, the Walkman brand name has been synonymous with quality personal audio. The device has evolved quite a bit since its introduction as a brick-like audio cassette player in the 1980s. Now, it's a sleek Windows-only MP3 player that allows users to carry any song from their music collections with them. The only obstacle is getting that song on the player.

Step 1

Connect the Walkman to your computer. Using the USB connector cable that came with the Walkman, plug it into the computer's USB port. This also charges the battery on the Walkman.

Step 2

Open the folder you store your MP3s in.

Step 3

Find the Walkman on your computer. Use Windows Explorer to go to "Computer" or "My Computer." The Walkman shows up as an external hard drive named "WALKMAN." Double-click it to open it.

Step 4

Install songs on the Walkman. Select songs from your MP3 folder by highlighting them or clicking on them individually. Now, drag these MP3 files over to the "Music" folder on the Walkman. They will take a moment to copy onto the player, and will be installed.
