Java is a free-for-use software product developed by Sun Microsystems that can make your online experience more exciting. It can be easily installed on any operating system including Windows 2000. Java is used by many online web applications like online games, and chatting through the web. Some websites even require you to have Java installed on your computer to be able to view and interact with them.

Step 1

Double-click the Java installation file (.exe) icon to start the installation wizard. If you do not have the installation file then you can download it from the Java website.

Step 2

Click to select the "Typical setup -- All Recommended features will be installed" radio button on the dialog box that opens, and then click the "Accept" button.

Step 3

Click to select the "Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer" check box if you want the Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer to be installed on your computer along with Java. The toolbar will be installed below the address bar on the Internet Explorer browser.

Step 4

Click to select the "Google Desktop" check box if you want Google Desktop to be installed on your computer along with Java and then click on "Next." The installation process will start, and it will be finished within a few minutes, depending on the speed of your computer.

Step 5

Click the "Finish" button after the Java installation process is complete.
